Swimming pool at Timor Backpackers
About the pool
The pool we use is 2.5m deep – the deepest in Timor Leste. Specially built for diving use, it is 9m long. This isn’t such a bad length for swimming either and it has a shallower end also.
There are steps down into the shallow part or you can brave a jump into the deep!
Swimming pool for Diving
A swimming pool is a very important tool for scuba diving course because it allows a place to get used to new equipment or techniques without worrying about waves, current, low visibility or entry and exit points.
This gives a chance to become comfortable with skills before going to the ocean.
Luckily for Dreamers Dive Academy Timor we are able to use the pool located in the DTL guesthouse/Timor Backpackers compound. Courses that require pool training sesssions include sidemount. Learning to dive on sidemount requires using a whole new set up of gear. This set up should be adjusted to fit you and that may take some tweeking. Getting in the pool first allows us to check your skills, buoyancy and gear set up adequately before diving.
Timor is a tropical country so it is usual that you get a bit hot and sticky. What better way to cool off that a quick dip! Not only that but recently (April 2018) Dtl guesthouse/Timor backpackers invested in a beautiful extension of the poolside to accomadate some new sun loungers and parasols.
Whether you prefer sunbathing or just chilling by the pool under the shade of the parasol you can find the perfect place here!
The pool is available for use by all guests staying in Dtl guesthouse/Timor backpackers. Your room will have pool towels
Feel free to chill out during the day or have a drink at sunset. We only ask that you don’t go too crazy and start playing loud music and of course clean up after yourself to leave the pool area nice for everyone.
Please note the pool is for guest use only
