Technical diving internship
For two weeks Dreamers Dive Academy Timor ran a technical diving based internship and had the priviledge of training Slav. He came all the way from the states to do a total of 4 courses with us. SDI deep and solo plus TDI nitrox and sidemount.
Over the two weeks we completed the training as well as some enjoyable tech dives. Mixing up the dive sites, entries and exits and set up of the tanks. This really allows for varied parameters for the courses. Actuallty we even discovered a new west coast dive site with Slav – now named Grandma’s house.
Dreamers Dive academy would like to thank Slav for an enjoyable 2 weeks of training, diving and Yahtzee! We genuinely hope to see you back again soon and see you continue your technical dive training. Also thank you for you wonderful comment (see below) on our facebook and trip advisor pages!
I had the privilege to spend two weeks diving, exploring and developing my technical scuba diving skills with Dreamers Dive Academy in Timor Leste. First of all, Dreamers is not your average dive shop, but rather a dive school for people wishing to take their diving skills to another level of proficiency. The academy is run by Kate and Ivan, whose professionalism and keen attention to detail is a direct result of their many years of experience and thousands of dives in some of the most challenging waters all over the world. They are both top notch TDI/SDI instructors and will cater your diving package to your individual learning goals, experience level and diving background. No matter whether you have 30 dives or 3,000, they go above and beyond to ensure you get the most out of your time with them and will focus on developing the skills you want to achieve in a safe and fun environment. For me, they started me on my way to becoming a proficient tech diver by creating a TDI sidemount/nitrox and SDI deep/solo specialty package and took me to some rarely visited or previously unexplored dive sites along the way. What a treat!
Aside from being dive pros, they are also both wonderful people, and their incredible passion and excitement for diving, marine biology, ecology and the environment is contagious! They even started their own artificial reef, La Casa, which is starting to host many species of Timor’s diverse underwater creatures.
Everything about my time with Dreamers was incredible, from the various world class dive sites, to the detail focused coursework, to the amazing homemade surface interval juices or the evening games of Yahtzee. These guys delivered on all fronts!
Also, if you are new to Timor Leste like I was, they will gladly help you with logistics like accommodation, airport pickup, restaurant/grocery recommendations etc.
Thank you Dreamers Dive Academy!! See you next time!!
